In Massachusetts, Automobile insurer's are required to report coverage and cancellations of coverage to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. If you have not re-registered your vehicle(s) at your new location, a cancellation reported to the Registry of Motor Vehicles will result in your registration being revoked. We suggest that you contact your independent Insurance regarding your situation. They will be able to advise you on what is required to cancel your automobile insurance policy with us, while avoiding any potential issues that may arise. In Massachusetts your vehicle(s) active registration serves as proof of insurance. Note that if your insurance policy were to be cancelled for any reason, your insurer would be obligated to notify the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles who would cancel your registration.

I have recently moved out of Massachusetts, and my new Insurance Company is requesting that I provide them with a letter from MAPFRE containing a description of my driving history with you. How do I get this type of letter?
The letter you refer to is called a 'Letter of Experience'. MAPFRE Insurance is able to supply this letter detailing any loss activity you may (or may not) have had while insured with us. When requesting a Letter of Experience we will need your policy number, Massachusetts drivers license number, the name and address of the individual to whom the response is to be sent and their fax number (in the USA only). If the letter needs to be sent outside the United States, we will need either the name and mailing address of the individual who is to receive this information, or the email address of the insurance agent or insurance company representative to whom we must send this document. Any information with regard to moving violations must be requested directly from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. The cards you are referring to are called Canada Non-Resident Inter- Province Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Cards. MAPFRE Insurance is filed in Canada to provide this card for their insured's who will be driving in Canada. Your independent Commerce Insurance Agent has been provided with information regarding these cards, and will complete one for you.
